Thats one of the problems I have with this job. I earn PTO so slowly compared to my last job (it takes three pay cycles just to bank a single day of PTO). So I feel really discouraged since I cant bank time off in an equivalent exchange in order to get the sort of downtime I want. Add to that a really, really long drive and the fact that extra time you work can only be flexed in the same pay period (if you work extra and cant burn it in the same two week window it just vanishes and you get nothing for it) and I feel like I live my life around my job with nothing to show for it.

Gimmicks are sort of in the past.

These days its just enough to be someone people like. You dont really need a schtick as much as just being compelling.

The Attitude Era was the origin of wrestlers playing themselves with the dial turned way up and I think it worked.

Im in a weird crossroads. On one hand I feel like I need to get out of here lest I spiral into self-destruction but on the other I worry that a month or two later Ill regret it because the people here are the best Ive ever worked with, Im just so poor with handling the job itself (plus I dont want to abandon the chance to further my career or be percieved as bailing a crucial juncture).

Also trying to decide the best path for leveling characters always seems like something you just have to know right away lest you waste levels pushing a character into a poor fit.

At least with a game like FF10 if you just grind forever you can make everyone everything and not have to worry about making sure experience is spent pushing them in the right direction (although then you get into the time-sink aspect of grinding).

Im...okay with JRPGs but only if theyre rather simple to understand.

When stat management gets really layered (like you have a lot of base stat types including more obscure ones like LCK, which can then be modified by the weapon and armor combo you wear, which themselves can be modified with things like elemental binds) is when I cant really tolerate it.

In general Im not super-fond of that style of gameplay anyway.
